Of Gymnastics superstars...

I had to write up a review to get my opinions out on what was one of the coolest and worst shows I've seen in a long while.

The good things:
The Gymnasts have lost none of their amazing touch. The Hamm brothers, absent from the Beijing Olympics, managed to show up in full force. Nobody, and I mean nobody, does it like the Hamm Brothers.
That being said, overall, the Men's team was amazing. Not breathtakingly technical, or mindbogglingly record breaking, but extraordinarily...fun. It's like, they decided on this tour to actually give it up and do things they enjoy. The crowd loved them for it.

The Women's team gave the same effort they did at the Olympics, more or less. The spotlight more often than not was put on Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin, the former being the reason I went, and a huge celebrity crush of mine. They didn't disappoint, with high-caliber Floor and Beam exercises.

And I don't think I'll ever see anything so pretty as Shawn Johnson smiling as long as I live.

The Bad:
It was apparently sponsored by Disney, so two adolescent bands played, a lot. It was alright at the beginning, when they would have performances from the Gymnasts during the "concert". It got to the point where after intermission, the band KMS, who do suck so much, a five memeber all 14 year old girl band, trying to be heavy metal, played three songs in a row, with no Gymnasts in sight.
The other musician, a girl named Jordan Pruitt, seems to be a grasp at a newage Britney Spears. I didn't like that one either.
The musicians were forced upon us. I didn't pay cash moneys to see pop music at the Tour Of Gymnastic Superstars.

Also, the whole thing lasted two hours. The Olympians got very little screen time, and the routines they did, while good, and I could not do them in my dreams, were not their best.

Overall, I did not like who the show was performed for. Not the Gymnasts, not the lovers of the sport, not the Olympic fans, not the patriots. No, the entire thing seemed focused on the Twelve year old girls, trying gymnastics for the first time, who would actually like the music and the attempts at humor.

Also, to no fault of the show, really, I got seated in front of three Toddler girls, who had a high pitched screaming contest every time an athlete walked off the platform.

Ow.

Overall, it was a good show, I'll go again when it comes to Michigan, but I'd rather go to, I don't know, the actual Olympics.

Shawn Johnson is still amazing, for the record.
